Saul “Pinky” Lefkowitz, 90, passed peacefully on Jan. 12, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jeanne Lefkowitz, and his son, Jack Lefkowitz of Scottsdale.

Pinky was born to Jack and Sadie Lefkowitz on Feb. 25, 1925, in Manchester, N.H. After graduating high school in Pittston, Pa., he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943.

He served on the Western front in World War II, including the Battle of the Bulge, and was honorably discharged in 1946. He married Jeanne in 1948 and they had one son, Jack.

After briefly working for his family’s clothing business and a refrigeration manufacturer, he and Jeanne had lifelong careers breeding, training and showing horses and dogs and travelled extensively throughout the world. They retired to Goldfield Ranch in 1986.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers Jeanne and Jack suggest that memorial donations be made in Pinky’s honor to a charity serving veterans and military families, Fisher House Foundation, donate.fisherhouse.org, or to an animal rescue charity of the donor’s choice.
