Raymond Cueny

Raymond Cueny passed peacefully into God’s hands on Dec. 25, 2015, after a year-long battle with cancer and lung disease. He was born on July 12, 1939 in Detroit, Mich.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela; two brothers, Edward and Richard; eight loving nieces and nephews; 12 great-nieces and nephews and one great-great niece. He was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Sabatasso.

Ray served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963. He met Pam in 1964 and they were married in 1965 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary.

Ray worked for Michigan Consolidated Gas Company and they lived in and around the Detroit area. During their time in Michigan, Ray and Pam spent their summer vacations at their cottage in Cheboygan, Mich. enjoying boating, water skiing, and fun times with family and friends.

They both retired in 1997 and relocated to Fountain Hills in 1998 to enjoy their retirement years. Ray was a member of the American Legion and was an officer in the organization for many years. He was fun loving and out-going, and could talk to anyone about any subject. He loved sports of any kind and playing golf. He took a part-time job at Tonto Verde Golf Club to keep busy.

Memorial Services will be held at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary, 12065 North Saguaro Blvd. on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016 at 11 a.m. Interment will be held at National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016, at 11 a.m. A celebration of life will be held in Michigan at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Raymond’s memory to the American Cancer Society or the charity of your choice.
