Mike Creed

Posted

W. Michael Creed, or Mike to all that knew him, slipped away to be at peace on Wednesday, April 6. His wife, Barbara, and children Julie and Matthew were with him at the time.

Mike is survived by wife and best friend, Barbara (high school sweethearts, married 47 years), children Matthew Creed and Julie O’Janovac and spouse Patrick; grandchildren Connor Creed, Dominic Creed, Ty O’Janovac, Chase Creed, Trey O’Janovac and Dylan Creed.

Mike was born in Indianapolis, Indiana in April, 1944. From there, his family moved to Milan, Indiana, then to Blue Ridge, Indiana. He attended Indiana State University and received a Bachelor of Science in business.

Right after college, he was drafted into the army, spending the last year in Vietnam. Mike was hired right out of college by Osco Drug and they took into account his two-year service time. He was with the company as an Osco Manager and Market Manager for 34 years. He and his family lived in Indiana, New Hampshire and the Chicago area. Retirement called when he was 56, and he and Barb happily came to Fountain Hills.

Mike’s love of golf kept him as busy as he wanted to be here in Fountain Hills, and he had many friends sharing his love of the game. He also loved going to the movies with Barb. Joining the Fountain Hills Men’s Club gave him many fun activities to do in recent years.

Serving on the Fountain Hills Friends of the Library Board for a short time gave him a sense of community involvement. Mike loved to travel far and near with Barb also. However, being at his home with Barb gave him the most pleasure.

A celebration of life gathering is planned at the end of the month here in Fountain Hills. A second celebration will be held in the southwest Chicago area in May. Memorial contributions may be made to Evans Scholars Foundation, One Briar Road, Golf, IL 60029 or Fountain Hills Friends of the Library, PO Box 17581, Fountain Hills, Arizona 85269.
