Mary May Randolph

Posted

A service was held in Milwaukee, Wis., on Sept 23 for former Fountain Hills resident Mary May Randolph. She was 85.

Born in Virginia on March 5, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Anna Scott Randolph. She died Sept. 18, 2015.

She was a member of the Daughters of American Revolution and was an eighth generation direct descendant of George Read of Delaware, a signer of the Declaration of Independence.

She grew up in College Park, Md. She moved to Wisconsin in 1950, but returned to Maryland in 1980 to care for her parents.

After their passing, she moved to Fountain Hills. She enjoyed part-time work and traveling. In her senior years, she enjoyed playing cards, looking at pictures of family and friends and watching the news.

She enjoyed cookies and an occasional good pizza.

Her long life was very blessed and she split her time between Fountain Hills and Wisconsin so she could see her grandchildren and great grandsons.

Surviving her are her first husband, Howard M. Weiler; two daughters, Linda Sundeen (Tom) of Gilbert Ariz., and Gail Godfrey (Steve) of Muskego, Wisc.; four grandchildren, Robert H. Ziegler (Candace), Andrea Hunt (Adam), Tara L. Kent (Dustin) and Michael Godfrey (Holly); three great grandsons; an extended family of nieces and nephews; and life-long friends.

A celebration of life will be held in Fountain Hills on March 5 (which would have been her 86th birthday) at Trinity Lutheran Church at a time yet to be determined. An announcement in The Times will be printed prior to the celebration.
