Laura McCann

Posted

Our beloved Laura Swobodzinski McCann, “Tuttie Bug,” passed away peacefully on Monday, May 11, 2015.

Laura was born on Oct. 15, 1962 in Inglewood, Calif. She grew up in Lennox, a graduate of Lennox High School. Following graduation she went into banking where she was promoted to bank manager for Del Amo Savings in Torrance, Calif.

Laura moved to Fountain Hills with her husband Chuck in 1986 where she lived for the past 28 years. Laura worked for Travel Masters for 14 years where she met many of her friends and customers who would follow her throughout her food service career.

Laura served at Vito’s in Scottsdale where her coworkers were family and her love of serving “her” customers was her passion. Laura always sported a big smile and her infectious laugh would echo throughout the restaurant when she was working.

Laura loved people and was always looking for a reason to say “hi” to a familiar face. A cherished customer told the story of Laura bringing him his dinner saying, “You are not in my section so I can’t take your order, but, I can run your food,” -- using this as an opportunity to stop by and say hi! Her customers brought such joy to her life.

Laura had a love for pugs. Over the years she was mom to three. Her first Lulu Belle, then Louie Lou, and she leaves Dusty Lou. Every year she would take the pugs and her friends to the Fountain Hills parade; Laura loved her life in Fountain Hills.

Laura leaves behind: Nola Gould, her great Auntie; sisters, Kimberle Swobodzinski, Robbie Clark and Pamela Kennedy; niece, Natalie Alvarez; boyfriend, Frank DeFina; Eva DeFina; and her beloved pug, Dusty. Laura leaves behind the friends she met over her life too many to list and count. Laura touched the lives of so many amazing people.

Laura was preceded in death by Chuck McCann, her husband; Robert B. Swobodzinski, father; Donna Mae Forkner, mother; Robert Jr. and James E. Swobodzinski, brothers; Vic Gould, uncle; Mary and Bernard Swobodzinski, grandparents; Orville and Mary Paul, grandparents; Arlie Walters, grandmother; and her beloved pugs, Lulu Belle and Louie.

In lieu of flowers please make donations on behalf of Laura McCann to Arizona Pug Adoption and Rescue Network, APARN.org – there is a special link to Laura.

A celebration of “A Life Well Lived” will be held on Friday, May 22, at American Legion Hall No. 58, 16837 E. Parkview Ave., Fountain Hills.

Vito’s is having a night dedicated to Laura on Saturday, May 30.
