James Francis Carlowe

James Francis Carlowe passed into the loving arms of his lord, our savior, Oct. 3, 2017. James had unconditional love and devotion for his family.

James was born June 20, 1931. After he graduated high school he proudly served in the United State Navy, July 1949 to March 1953 and fought in the Korean War. His most notable commission while serving was on the USS English (DD-696). James was honorably discharged in 1953 and enrolled in University of Florida, College of Engineering.

He graduated with a degree in electrical engineering in 1958 and started his aerospace engineering career at NASA, Cape Canaveral, Fla. He was honored in 1960 for completing 100-plus successful Thor missile launches.

James met and married Jeri Fox of Auburndale, Fla. and lived in Cocoa Beach until James accepted a position with Motorola and ventured out west to Arizona. James and Jeri raised three children, two sons and one daughter in the State of Arizona, while working at Motorola.

He was a significant lead in the notable Voyager execution and launch in 1977, Mariner Jupiter-Saturn, JPL-NASA. He retired after a 29-year career at Motorola, Engineering Manager and became a traveler. James and Jeri traveled the United States and settled back home in Fountain Hills.

James was a great adventurer and historian.

James is survived by his wife, Jeri Carlowe; son, Eric Carlowe (New Mexico); daughter, Carmen Carlowe Swanson (Tom Swanson) of Cave Creek, Ariz.; son, Damian Carlowe (Kristine Carlowe) of Fountain Hills; and seven grandchildren, Cody Carlowe, Garrett Swanson, Jesse Carlowe, Clayton Carlowe, Wyatt Carlowe, Morgan Swanson and Shayna Carlowe.

Services will be held Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, 10:30 a.m. at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, 23029 North Cave Creek Road, Phoenix, AZ 85024.
