Elmer Schoemperlen passed away peacefully at age 99 on Jan. 23, 2016.
Elmer was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. He has gone to meet his wife, Sally, “At the top of the ladder.” He is survived by four children, Shannon Wittal, Barbara (Harry) Eldridge, James (Geri) Schoemperlen, Jack (Syamala) Schoemperlen; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was born to Theodore and Charlotte Schoemperlen in Strathclair, Manitoba, Canada on Sept. 12, 1916. Preceded in death by his loving wife Celestine (Sally), infant daughter Patricia, grandson Rychard and grandson Roger, his parents, three sisters and one brother.
Private services will be held at Messinger Fountain Hills Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society, 250 Williams St., Atlanta, GA, 30303 in memory of grandson Roger Wittal and to Aunt Rita’s Foundation, 2700 N. 3rd St. Ste.2012, Phoenix, AZ 85004, in memory of his grandson Rychard Whalen.
