David J. Rich of Fountain Hills went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 4, 2016.

David was born Dec. 20, 1950 in Woodburn, Ind., a small town east of Fort Wayne. He was a 1969 graduate of Woodlan High School and attended Fort Wayne Bible College and Indiana/Purdue University in Fort Wayne, where he majored in business.

David moved to Fountain Hills in October 1977 with his parents, Loren and Vi Rich and his sister, Barbara Rich. He was a partner in the Rich Chemical Cleaning Service, serving Fountain Hills, Scottsdale and the surrounding area from 1980 through 2002.

He was regularly seen at the Fountain Hills Community Center helping set up for daily events. He was very active in the Fountain Hills Community Church Choir in its early years and was a member of the Fountain Hills Community Chorus.

In 1994 David accepted a position with the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and retired in 2008.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Loren and Violet Rich of Fountain Hills. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Rich, and her husband, Steven Davey, of Fountain Hills and other siblings, Shirley Blackburn of Fort Wayne, Ind., Gary Rich of South Bend, Ind., Jane Coplin of Hicksville, Ohio and John Rich of Nebraska.

A memorial service will be at the First Baptist Church in Fountain Hills, 10215 N. Saguaro Blvd. on Monday, Feb. 1, at 2 p.m.

David was a kind, gentle soul and will be missed by everyone.
