Dale L. Phillips

Posted

Dale L. Phillips died peacefully with his family at his side on Nov. 2, 2015.

Dale is survived by Lorraine, his wife of 58 years; his only daughter, Kristine and son-in-law, Mike Prettyman; his grandsons, Jason Sercu and Guy Sercu; a step-grandson, Michael Prettyman, Jr.; and his siblings, Rollin (Rusty), Marge Krueger, Fred and Frank (Pat) Phillips. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Norma and his sister, Janice.

He was born, Feb. 8, 1935 and raised on a farm in Midland, Mich. – a small town where he met and married Lorraine Graves. He graduated from Midland High School, was a Marine Corps veteran and a career man with Michigan Bell Telephone Company where he retired after 32 years as a lineman, installer and field engineer. After retirement, Dale moved to Fountain Hills, and continued his active life.

Dale was an avid hunter of both game animals and birds, always looking forward to the annual application for hunting permits or an out-of-state excursion for something new. He was a baseball enthusiast: a member of AAA Fast-Pitch teams in Midland, a well-respected coach of Fountain Hills Little League teams and a follower the major leagues.

He loved golfing, hiking, meeting new people and sharing stories. Dale would strike up a conversation with just about any person he ran into – he had the gift of gab!

In lieu of flowers, please send a donation to your favorite charity in remembrance of one of the finest men on this earth, Dale Phillips. We will miss him dearly.
