Marie Darlene Ashley

Marie Darlene (Holmes) Ashley, 88, of Grand Rapids, Mich., died Aug. 2, 2013.

Born to Don and Esther (Calkins) Holmes in Wayland, Mich. on April 27, 1925, she was married to James Milton Ashley (2003) of East Machias, Maine for 57 years.

Marie is survived by sons, Randall (Barbara), Ryan (Carol), and Donald. Her son, Kimball, preceded her in death in 1991. In addition, she has four grandchildren, Elizabeth (Keith) Taylor, Katherine Ashley, Timothy Ashley, and Mark Kluznik-Ashley, and one great-granddaughter, Alexis Kluznik-Ashley.

Marie spent the majority of her life in Grand Rapids and was an active, lifelong member of Southlawn Church of God. She loved her family and friends dearly and generously donated her time and energy to helping others.

Marie enjoyed sewing, reading, gardening, and travel. She moved to Las Cruces, N.M. in 2000 and to Fountain Hills in 2007.

In memory of Marie Ashley, contributions may be made to the Humane Society, hospice, or a charity of your choice.
