FHHS looking into potential inappropriate relationship
Posted
The Maricopa County Sheriff's Office is investigating a potential inappropriate relationship between a local high school student and a student teacher, according to FHHS Principal Tom Brennan.
News of the incident came out Wednesday morning when Brennan emailed parents of the local high school to explain the situation. According to Brennan, the student teacher has been removed from campus, with any further potential disciplinary action to be carried out by her school, Grand Canyon University, and MCSO.
The entirety of Brennan's statement follows:
"On April 14, I was informed about a possible inappropriate, off-campus relationship between a female student teacher and a male 18-year-old high school student. The student teacher was promptly removed from the classroom, questioned and escorted off campus. The student was also questioned. Statements from both parties confirmed an inappropriate relationship and the student teacher will not return to the high school.
"High school and district administrators consulted with local law enforcement, and MCSO is taking the lead in the investigation. The District is fully cooperating with the investigation. Grand Canyon University, where the student teacher is enrolled, also was informed of the allegations and investigation and will follow its policies regarding the student."
