Tennis courts receive renovation

Posted

The Town of Fountain Hills and the Community Services Department will begin renovation and reconstruction of six public tennis courts beginning Tuesday, May 31. The courts are expected to be under construction through the summer and re-open in mid-September.

Funding for this project was awarded in December, 2015, through the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority’s Biannual Grant process, and is expected to cover roughly 66 percent of the total renovation costs. All municipal courts, including four at Golden Eagle Park and two at Four Peaks Neighborhood Park, are more than 20 years old and original to the park development.

Over time, the courts have suffered considerable damage and cracking. Through this grant funding, the courts will undergo a renovation process to upgrade the foundation and surface to a newer, more durable material known as post-tension concrete. During renovations courts will be closed to the public.

Community Services Director Mark Mayer said he is very excited about the tennis court renovations and is looking forward to the completion in September.

For more information regarding the renovation, contact the Community Services Department at 480-816-5100.
