Slide the City this Saturday
This map shows the six parking locations for those attending the Slide the City event in Fountain Hills on Saturday. A shuttle will run between the three school district sites and three churches and take people to the slide site on Palisades Boulevard. People should reach the parking areas using Fountain Hills Boulevard and streets shown on the map.
Slide the City set up a mini-version in Fountain Park Thursday morning of the quarter-mile slide it will have on Palisades Boulevard this Saturday. The slide was up early for event promotion on television and was rolled up by 9:30 a.m.

Fountain Hills is getting ready to host the Arizona debut of Slide the City this Saturday, April 25.
The quarter-mile water slide will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (the first and final hours are reserved for those with VIP passes).
The event will have Palisades Boulevard closed in both directions between Lost Hills (just south of Golden Eagle Boulevard) and Sunflower Drive.
Palisades will be closed from about 4 a.m. to midnight on Saturday for setup and knockdown.
Access for residents along the Palisades frontage road and Sunflower Drive will be maintained throughout the closure.
Everyone who is preregistered for the event by purchasing passes on line is being given instructions on how to come into town and where to find parking.
Generally people are being urged to use Fountain Hills Boulevard.
However, anyone who comes in on Palisades will be detoured onto El Lago to Fountain Hills Blvd. Parking will not be permitted in the residential neighborhoods.
Event organizers have made arrangements with Fountain Hills High School and various churches for event parking.
A shuttle route is set up to operate tentatively from El Lago and Fountain Hills boulevards past the high school parking lot to Bainbridge and west to Golden Eagle, where it will turn to drop people off at Palisades.
Participants will need to use a tube on the slide; they can bring their own, or there will be ones available for sale or some ticket packages include one.
There will be three or four food trucks parked along the slide route (southbound lanes of Palisades) for food and refreshments.
Participants will also be able to run home for food or to nearby restaurants and return for more fun.
There will be no alcohol permitted.
There are no restrictions on swimwear other than no rivets (like jeans cutoffs might have). Wear a pair of shoes similar to those used for river tubing or flip flops for walking back up the street.
There is none in the weekend forecast, but even rain should not interfere with the event.
