Posted
Memorial Day Service
AmVets Post 7 is coordinating this year’s Memorial Day Service at the Veterans Memorial in Fountain Hills.
The service gets underway at 9 a.m. Monday, May 30. Gordon Rohn, Arizona Department Commander of the AmVets, will deliver the keynote address.
All three veterans’ posts in Fountain Hills will participate in the service. At the end of the event, the bidding for a painting by Carlos Hadaway, will close. The winning bid will be announced. Proceeds from the painting will benefit the VFW Post 7507. Monies will go to the post’s new headquarters, which recently was opened.
American Legion Post 58 also will participate in the ceremony.
Closings
The Memorial Day holiday means closings for government offices and other area services.
Town Hall will be closed to observe the holiday Monday, May 30. The Community Center will also be closed, as will the Fountain Hills Branch Library.
School will be out for the summer, so there are no classes scheduled Monday. The Fountain Hills School District offices will be closed for the holiday.
The offices for the Sanitary District and Chaparral City Water Company will also be closed. Sanitary and the water company will be available in the event of an emergency by using the after-hours emergency telephone number.
The bank branches in Fountain Hills will all be closed to observe the holiday, including the grocery store branches.
Garbage collection in Fountain Hills will not be affected.
Newspaper
The Times’ office will be closed on Monday as well, with holiday deadlines in effect for advertising, letters to the editor and classified ads.

All letters to the editor, press releases, columns and sports results must be in by 3 p.m. Friday.
The Times’ staff wishes everyone a safe holiday weekend. Look through this week’s edition for local activities and holiday sales.
