CopperWynd Resort notified town officials Monday that it was withdrawing a special use permit application to transition the facility into a wellness center.

Attorney Jordan R. Rose of the Rose Law Group said “it was never the intent of the owners to convert the resort into any kind of drug rehabilitation center, and we are sorry that the intent was misconstrued.”

“The owner’s vision to to add spa programming focused on whole body wellness that will be on par with the greatest wellness resorts in the world (in the spirit of Canyon Ranch or Miraval,” wrote Rose in a letter to the mayor, Town Council members, Planning Commission members and Town Planning Department.

A neighborhood meeting to discuss the renovation was scheduled for 4:30 p.m., Monday.

“We are sorry for any consternation the application may have caused.”

Rose said the owners look forward to continuing a partnership with the town and community as CopperWynd seeks to achieve world class status.
