Motorists heading toward Payson and beyond this evening may experience traffic delays.

Crews will shift back to one lane in each direction on State Route 87 (mileposts 223-229) between Payson and Phoenix tonight, May 5. Drivers may experience delays up to 15 minutes at a time between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m.

For the past several weeks, drivers have been traveling on the northbound lanes that were a two-lane roadway. Drivers will be restricted to one lane in each direction through May 18.

On Thursday, May 7, final paving will occur through the work zone between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. Minimal delays are expected. The $6.2 million safety improvement project is occurring about seven miles south of the State Route 188 junction on the Beeline.
