Registered voters who are on the permanent early voting list should have received a postcard in the mail from Maricopa County Elections related to ballot preferences wanting information regarding voter preference for the upcoming Aug. 26 primary election.

The postcard is requesting updates to a voter’s mailing address and whether the voter wants a ballot for the primary sent to them or if they want to be removed from the PEVL.

Anyone who is registered as a voter with a party will automatically receive an early ballot if they are on the PEVL.

Those voters have received a card wanting to know whether the voter wants a ballot for the primary, or if they want to be removed from the PEVL.

You can also make address changes.

Unaffiliated voters (those registered with no party preference) will not automatically receive an early ballot. Those voters have received a postcard notice from Maricopa County Elections card asking for address verification and if they want a ballot for the primary.

It asks which ballot they want or whether the voter wants to be removed from the PEVL. This card must be returned to receive a ballot.

Those choices include a Town Council-election only ballot, or they may select a ballot from any of the parties eligible for the ballot.

Those not currently on the PEVL and who would like to be included in the early balloting may go to the Maricopa County Recorder’s website to sign up for an early ballot at recorder.maricopa.gov.

In Fountain Hills the August primary will include a Town Council election with the mayor’s seat and three council positions up for grabs.

Mayor Linda Kavanagh is unopposed. There are four candidates for the three council seats including incumbent Henry Leger, Lina Bellenir, Nick DePorter and Alan Magazine.

Seats for the U.S. House of Representatives, Arizona Legislature and other state offices are also on the ballot.
