A Fountain Hills man, 54, was injured early Sunday morning when his pick-up truck ended up in a wash near Fountain Hills Boulevard and Cholla Drive.
The truck was discovered about 9 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, by a local physician who was riding his mountain bike through the wash. The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office reported the engine was cold on the vehicle and the victim told firefighters it was dark when the accident happened, but he didn't remember any more than that.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the man was westbound on Chama Drive when he crossed Fountain Hills Boulevard and was launched into the wash after striking an embankment along the road. The vehicle came to rest in the wash on all four wheels about 18 feet down in the wash.
The man sustained facial injuries and was transported by ground ambulance to a Scottsdale trauma center.
