Car plunges into wash early Sunday
Both occupants were severely injured and taken to the hospital Sunday morning.

Impairment is suspected in an early morning crash Sunday, June 23, that sent two people to the hospital after their vehicle landed in a wash.
Randy Roberts, interim Fountain Hills fire chief, said the single-vehicle accident occurred around 1 a.m. Sunday.
Fountain Hills Rural/Metro crews found the small white car in a wash between Sunflower and Primrose drives, about 100 feet from the roadway.
The victims were taken to an area hospital by ground ambulance, Roberts said.
Fort McDowell Fire Department provided mutual aid coverage while the patients were treated and removed from the heavily-damaged vehicle over steep terrain.
Sheriff’s Office Commander Capt. Joe Rodriquez said the driver was a 32-year-old female and the passenger a 33-year-old male.
There was evidence of impairment, Rodriquez said, and detectives are awaiting toxicology results.
“At this time it appears that both will survive their injuries,” the captain added.
MCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Unit responded and took disposition of the accident due to the nature of injuries and possible impairment.
