Council meets Aug. 1
Posted
The Town Council returns this week after its July hiatus.
The council will hold a public hearing and consider rezoning and special use permit applications for a Fountain Hills manufacturing firm. Prevco Subsea Housings is seeking consideration to remodel an office and build a manufacturing facility at a site on Desert Vista.
Mayor Linda Kavanagh has several items to report and there will also be public appearances and presentations to update the council on activities over the summer.
Kavanagh will have a proclamation honoring the late President Dr. Clinton Pattea of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.
Randy Roberts will be introduced as the new fire chief for Rural/Metro in Fountain Hills. Roberts has served since 2007 as assistant chief/fire marshal in Fountain Hills and is replacing the late Chief Scott LaGreca.
There will also be recognition of Fountain Hills as a Playful City U.S.A. Community for the fourth consecutive year, and acknowledgement of the Coldwell Banker Real Estate designation of Fountain Hills as the top “booming suburb” in Arizona.
Deputy Town Manager/Finance Director Julie Ghetti will present the quarterly budget report for the fourth quarter of the 2012-13 fiscal year, as well as recognition of the town receiving the GFOA award for Outstanding Achievement in Popular Annual Finance Reporting for the fiscal year that ended June 30, 2012.
The council will be considering the appointment of five commissioners and one youth commissioner to the Strategic Planning Advisory Commission for terms beginning Aug. 1.
The council will also consider a budget transfer of $200,690 from the vehicle replacement fund for vehicles purchased in the past fiscal year, but not yet delivered.
The council meets Thursday, Aug. 1, at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall. The meeting is open to the public.
