Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the 14000 block of Love Court shortly after midnight on Monday, Dec. 4, for a reported fire in the back yard of a residential home.

Deputies contacted the resident who said the fire pit got out of hand and told deputies to leave his residence. Deputies reported he resisted their efforts to keep him out of the back yard after firefighters arrived to extinguish the blaze, which had grown to about 800 square feet with 15-foot flames and caused the explosion of a propane tank.

Fire officials told deputies there was no basis to cite the man in relation to the fire. They found no indication he had been illegally burning anything.

Late in the morning on Dec. 4, deputies were called back to Love Court when it was reported that the same man involved with the fire was throwing rocks at a neighbor going to the mailbox. At that point the man was arrested for assault, making threats and resisting arrest.

*On Saturday, Nov. 11, deputies arrested and cited a female juvenile from Gilbert in connection with shoplifting from the Fountain Hills Target store. She allegedly removed cell phone cases valued at $200. The girl was cited and released to her mother.

*On Thursday, Nov. 23, deputies made a traffic stop for speeding on Saguaro Boulevard at Ledferd Lane. They found the license plate on the vehicle had been suspended per mandatory insurance. The plate was removed and the vehicle impounded.

*On Wednesday, Nov. 29, deputies received a report of two suspicious men in the 15000 block of Boulder Drive. The two had been in the neighborhood going door to door selling cleaning products. Deputies told the men they would need a permit and asked them to leave. However, the woman who complained insisted they be arrested although deputies said there was no evidence of any crime being committed. Deputies gave the men a courtesy ride to Saguaro and Shea boulevards to wait for someone to pick them up.

*On Thursday, Nov. 30, an unknown person entered an open garage area in the 14000 block of Oakwood Drive and removed an LED bar light from a vehicle without permission.

*On Thursday, Nov. 30, a Fountain Hills man was arrested after he had an argument with a woman. The two had argued over a movie and he allegedly threw a clay pot at her and broke her cell phone. He faces charges for preventing a call for help in an emergency and criminal damage, domestic violence.

*On Thursday, Nov. 30, a resident of the 16000 block of Arrow Drive reported tools stolen from his garage. The garage was open as he was doing laundry in the garage, but was in and out of the house. Tools valued at approximately $500 were stolen.

*On Sunday, Dec. 3, deputies received a report from the Circle K store on Shea Boulevard that a female suspect had entered the store and took, without paying, food items, cigarettes and lottery tickets with a total value of about $125.

*On Sunday, Dec. 3, a vehicle break-in was reported in the 11000 block of Saguaro Boulevard. Cash, a laptop and damage to the vehicle is estimated at $800.

*On Thursday, Nov. 30, deputies received a report that someone had set fire to a vehicle parked in the 17000 block of Amhurst Drive.

*On Sunday, Dec. 3, deputies received a report of a back window broken out of a vehicle that was parked in the 16000 block of Avenue of the Fountains.

*On Sunday, Dec. 3, a Fountain Hills woman reported a vehicle burglary from an unlocked vehicle parked in the Safeway parking lot.

*On Monday, Dec. 4, a Tempe man was stopped for speeding in the school zone at Fountain Hills Boulevard and Glenbrook traveling 26 miles per hour where the speed limit is 15. He was also cited for having no valid driver license.

*On Monday, Dec. 4, deputies responded to the Fountain Hills Safeway store regarding a shoplifter taking merchandise valued at $45. The suspect was located and cited for shoplifting.

*On Tuesday, Dec. 5, a resident of the 14000 block of Aguilar Drive reported a burglary in which cash, a laptop, jewelry and a jogging stroller were taken. Total value is about $3,000.

*On Wednesday, Dec. 6, deputies stopped a Mesa man driving a vehicle with a trailer with inoperative brake lights on the trailer. The driver had no driver license. It was a work vehicle that belonged to his employer.
