Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies in Fountain Hills received a report of a residential burglary at a home in the 15000 block of N. Escalante Drive on Thursday, Feb. 11.

The homeowners reported coming home to find a door into the master bedroom was open and the house had been “ransacked.”

Gates to a rear yard were open, but there was no sign any gates or doors had been forced open for entry.

The residents reported that jewelry with an estimated value of $4,467 had been taken from the home.

*On Monday, Feb. 15, deputies were called when a Fountain Hills woman, age 72, accidently discharged a handgun inside a bedroom. A caregiver was in another room at the time of the incident and called to report it. The caregiver was not aware the gun was in the home. No one was injured.

*On Tuesday, Feb. 16, deputies made a traffic stop on a Phoenix man driving a vehicle with a suspended license plate. The driver was cited and the license plate was removed from the vehicle.

*On Tuesday, Feb. 16, a Fountain Hills woman went to the MCSO substation in Fountain Hills with a firearm she had found inside an apartment she owns in Phoenix. The weapon was illegally modified. The weapon and information was forwarded to MCSO detectives for follow-up.

*On Tuesday, Feb. 16, deputies responded to a report of a vehicle accident in Rio Verde at Avenida Del Rey and Cortez Drive. A juvenile was driving a golf cart with his grandmother and brother as passengers when the golf cart rolled over while making a turn. The brother who was the passenger received minor injuries. Although speed was believed to be a factor, no citations were issued as the streets are private.

*On Sunday, Feb. 7, a Mesa woman was stopped for speeding on Saguaro Boulevard near Malta Drive. She was cited for speeding and driving without a valid driver license.

*On Thursday, Feb. 18, a Fountain Hills man was stopped for driving with an expired tag on the license plate. Deputies found that the license plate was assigned to a different vehicle. The man was cited for having no current vehicle registration, displaying a suspended license plate, no mandatory insurance and driving with a suspended license.

*On Thursday, Feb. 18, deputies responded to a reported domestic violence assault in the 28000 block of N. 158th Street in Maricopa County. A woman reported she and her husband had been arguing when he threw a dinner tray at her and made threats to “break her head.” The information was forwarded to the Maricopa County Attorney to review for possible charges.

*On Thursday, Feb. 18, a woman living in the 14000 block of Boxwood Lane reported two juvenile males had been throwing rocks at her home and climbing onto a patio roof in order to harass her daughter. Deputies found no evidence anyone had throwing rocks or had been on the roof.

*On Saturday, Feb. 20, deputies responded along with Fountain Hills Fire Department personnel to McDowell Mountain Park for a reported fire in the area of the Four Peaks Horse Staging Area. A portable toilet had burned and was destroyed by the fire. Firefighters found no obvious cause for the fire but no evidence of suspicious origin. Park personnel told deputies this was the second such fire in recent weeks.
