A Fountain Hills woman called the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office and reported more than $7,000 in jewelry stolen from her home while she was away between Monday, April 20, and April 24.

The woman’s son was home during the time and told deputies he had three or four friends who stayed late or overnight.

All of the friends denied any knowledge of the theft, but the case was forwarded to detectives for a follow-up investigation.

*Deputies continued to make traffic stops for alleged criminal speed along Shea Boulevard approaching the construction zone. A Gilbert man was stopped on Tuesday, April 21, and four others were pulled over on Saturday, April 21. All were traveling through the area where speeds were being reduced from 50 to 25 miles per hour. The drivers were traveling between 55 and 60 miles per hour.

*On Thursday, April 16, a resident of the 15000 block of Sage Drive reported someone had stolen a large container holding an unknown amount in coins.

*On Tuesday, April 21, deputies responded to a traffic accident between a motorist and a postal delivery vehicle on Rocky Mountain Place. A man driving a SUV said he pulled from his driveway into oncoming traffic and collided with the mail truck. He was cited for failure to stay on the correct side of the roadway.

*On Sunday, April 19, a resident of Vista Del Oro reported someone had broken into their home and taken jewelry valued at $12,900.

*Deputies received word on a couple of additional cases in which someone had used a resident’s Social Security number to file fraudulent tax returns. These cases are being referred to IRS investigators.

*On Wednesday, April 15, a man living in the 16000 block of Overlook Court reported someone had stolen a camera lens valued at $1,000 from the back patio.

*On Thursday, April, 16, deputies received a report from Fountain Hills Middle School that a male juvenile student had punched a second student in the stomach hard enough to knock him down and take his wind away. The injured boy’s mother was interested in pursuing charges, however, deputies determined it was a case of kids roughhousing.

*On Saturday, April 18, an employee of Fountain Hills Sanitary District reported someone had painted graffiti on a building. The employee said under normal circumstances they would paint over the graffiti and forget about it. However, in this case the person had climbed over a fence and painted on an interior building. He wanted MCSO to know someone had climbed over the fence.

*On Wednesday, April 22, a juvenile female was found in possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia while on the Fountain Hills High School campus.

*On Wednesday, April 22, a house sitter found a home in the 25000 block of Conder Court in Rio Verde had been ransacked while the homeowner was away. Someone had broken in by overriding the garage door system. It was not immediately determined what was taken.

*On Thursday, April 23, deputies received two reports of thefts from student backpacks. One had $200 cash taken and the second a computer. Another student reported seeing a male student going through people’s backpacks, and that suspect has been questioned by detectives. He was also suspended from school during the investigation.

*On Friday, April 24, deputies received a report of eight to nine juveniles creating a disturbance in the 16000 block of La Montana Drive. Witnesses at the scene reported the group had left the area. Deputies located several juveniles fitting the description at another location. The juveniles refused to talk with deputies.

*On Friday, April 24, there was a report of criminal damage in the restroom at Golden Eagle Park. Someone had cut a soap dispenser causing soap to run onto the floor.

*On Saturday, April 25, a Fountain Hills man stopped for speeding on Shea Boulevard was arrested for DUI.

*On Saturday, April 25, deputies received a report of criminal damage with graffiti on a slide at the playground at Fountain Park. Someone had drawn obscene pictures and used foul language.

*On Sunday, April 26, a Fountain Hills man was arrested for disorderly conduct and indecent exposure.
