Maricopa County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a report of unknown trouble on Thursday, Jan. 28, and ultimately arrested a Fountain Hills man on assault charges.

The suspect told deputies that he was punched by his son. But witnesses at the scene said the younger man was responding in defense of his grandmother, who was allegedly pushed by the suspect who also allegedly threatened the son with a kitchen knife.

The man faces charges of domestic violence assault, domestic violence aggravated assault with a deadly weapon (knife) and criminal damage for related breakage of household furniture.

*On Saturday, Jan. 23, officials at the Fountain United Methodist Church reported a stained glass window valued at $5,000 had been broken with a rock.

*On Sunday, Jan. 24, an employee at the Tonto Verde Golf Club in the 18000 block of Circulo Drive reported an ice machine valued at $8,000 was stolen from the club.

*On Wednesday, Jan. 27, a Wisconsin woman reported to MCSO that her vehicle was broken into sometime Jan. 23 or 24 in San Clemente, Calf. The break-in was not discovered until the woman left California and San Clemente Police would not take a report over the phone. MCSO took the report of an iPad, keys, binoculars and tool kit, total value $4,200 was taken.

*On Wednesday, Jan. 27, a Fountain Hills woman reported her ex-boyfriend was access to her social media accounts to harass her.

*On Wednesday, Jan. 13, a Fountain Hills woman reported a man identifying himself as “Robert” had asked her to send $430 to claim a lottery prize of $10.5 million. She did not send the money.

*On Monday, Jan. 25, a Fountain Hills man reported the theft of $32 from his wallet while a two-person cleaning crew was in his home.

*On Wednesday, Jan. 27, deputies investigated a single vehicle accident on Panorama Drive at Quail Ridge Drive. The woman driving reported she was distracted and drove off the roadway and across the landscaping. She was cited for failure to control her vehicle.

*On Thursday, Jan 28, a woman reported damage to her mailbox in the 9000 block of Fireridge Trail. It appeared someone had attempted to pry the mailbox open. The woman reported an ongoing dispute with USPS and her carrier related to the lock and slot in her mailbox meeting standards.

*On Thursday, Jan. 28, deputies received a report that a vehicle has struck the stop sign at Verde River Drive and Parkview Avenue.

*On Thursday, Jan. 28, deputies responded to Saguaro and Monterey Drive for a collision between a vehicle and a three-wheel motorcycle. The woman driving the car had pulled across midway to make a northbound left turn when she was struck by the southbound motorcycle. Her vehicle was blocking the traffic lane. She was cited for failure to yield when making a left turn. Two people on the motorcycle were taken to the hospital as a precaution.

*On Friday, Jan. 29, deputies responded to a collision along the Saguaro Boulevard frontage road near Panorama Drive. A vehicle pulling from a business parking lot struck a vehicle traveling north on the frontage road. The driver pulling from the parking lot was cited for failure to yield. No one was injured.

*On Saturday, Jan. 30, deputies arrested a Fountain Hills man for Super Extreme DUI following a collision at Palisades and Saguaro Boulevard. A vehicle traveling west on Panorama to Palisades was stuck by the other vehicle making the left to northbound Saguaro. The driver making the left was cited.
