The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office dispatched a helicopter to assist in searching for a man reported missing in Fountain Hills Sunday, May 17.

At about 8:20 p.m. deputies received a report from a Fountain Hills woman that her 52-year-old brother was missing. She stated he is in poor health and was concerned for his well-being.

He was last seen about 6:30 p.m. walking away from the home on Thistle Drive.

Deputies searched the area and about 10 p.m. asked for the airborne assistance. The chopper was in the area from about 10:15 p.m. until just after 11 p.m. without locating the man.

At about 12:30 a.m. on Monday a Sheriff’s deputy located the man sitting on a bench on the Avenue of the Fountains Plaza near Verde River Drive. He was unharmed and returned home safely.

*On Sunday, May 17, a resident of the 16000 block of Rando Del Oro in the Rio Verde area reported finding some of her livestock and property had been spray painted with graffiti. She had goats and chickens as well as fence posts and her front lawn painted with rainbows and smiley faces. Suspects would face potential charges for animal cruelty, criminal damage and trespassing.

*On Friday, May 15, deputies received a report from a Fountain Hills woman that a former boyfriend she had been staying with had stolen some of her clothing as he helped her move out of his home. She estimated the loss at $750. The man said he had not stolen any of her property and he no longer wanted to have anything to do with her.

*On Saturday, May 16, a resident of the 13000 block of Cambria Drive reported someone had removed a mailbox post and used it to cause damage to their vehicle parked in the driveway.

*On Wednesday, May 13, a man reported someone had entered his back yard and stolen patio furniture valued at about $100. He later contacted deputies to report his wife had taken the items to Goodwill.

*On Sunday, May 17, deputies were called to a reported single-vehicle crash on Eagle Mountain Parkway at Summer Hill Boulevard. The woman driving the vehicle reported she lost control after striking the curb and went off the road and struck a tree. There were no injuries.

*On Sunday, May 17, a resident of the 16000 block of Montrose Drive reported someone had stolen a handgun from his truck while it was parked on the street.

*On Tuesday, May 19, deputies received a report that someone had spray painted a SRP utility box with graffiti on Fountain Hills Boulevard near Edgeworth Drive.

*On Tuesday, May 19, deputies arrested a Fountain Hills man in connection with a shoplifting incident at the Target store on March 24. The man admitted taking a cell phone without paying and said he traded it for cash and a set of headphones. He was booked into the Fourth Avenue Jail in Phoenix.

*On Thursday, May 21, deputies arrested a Scottsdale man for driving with a suspended license after he was stopped for excessive speed on Shea Boulevard. He was reported traveling 75 miles per hour where the speed limit is 45.

*On Friday, May 15, a Fountain Hills High School student reported someone had stolen his backpack from a classroom. The property including the backpack and contents had a value of about $155. The pack also contained a bank card, student ID and a driver license.

*On Wednesday, May 20, a Fountain Hills High School student was arrested for possession of narcotics and possession of drugs in a drug free school zone. The student was found at school on Jan. 15 with a homemade crispy treat believed to contain marijuana. Deputies received word on May 20 that the substance had lab tested positive for marijuana.

*In the May 20 edition The Times reported an alleged assault incident in the 17000 block of Calle Del Oro. The report indicated a woman she had been assaulted by her sister and her mother was assaulted also. The second victim was the woman’s step-mother not her mother.
