Peaks Rotary supports mentoring

Sandy Davis and Jeannie Ryan recently visited the Four Peaks Rotary Club to provide an update on the Fountain Hills Mentoring Program and its needs for mentors.
The program was developed to offer local children the opportunity to reach their maximum potential.
By providing trusting relationships between young people and individuals, the program is aimed at developing youths’ confidence, competence and character.
The Fountain Hills Mentor Program is acknowledged statewide as being a leader in excellence.
A first place 2007 Golden Bell Award was given to the FHMP from the Arizona School Board Association. The Golden Bell Award represents quality leadership and advocacy for children in schools.
Currently, volunteers are involved in McDowell Mountain Elementary, Four Peaks Elementary School and Fountain Hills Middle School. The program takes place on school grounds and is based around academics and activities.
Committing one hour per week, volunteers serve as both tutors and mentors. While the Fountain Hills Mentor Program brings an enrichment to the lives of youths, it can’t be underestimated the sense of personal gratification and enjoyment it brings to volunteers.

Club President Bill Beamish and Roger Riggert, both mentors, provided a check to Davis and Ryan to help toward the purchase of necessary supplies.
