A Guide to Fountain Hills & Northeast Scottsdale

Lots now available: Vista Verde ready for residents

Vista Verde, the newest of the Verde Communities is beginning to show signs of life as new homes are beginning to rise out of the ground, and the first residents will soon be moving in.

With terrain that sits slightly higher than its sister communities of Rio Verde and Tonto Verde, the views (or vistas) are the hallmark of Vista Verde. The wide desert terrain opens up panoramas of the mountains rising across the Verde River to the east. The north, west and south open onto stretches of the Sonoran Desert.

In spite of economic woes, V\Rio Verde Services President Dave Ritchie is positive about the interest people have in Vista Verde. There are 185 lots in Phase One, with 35 of those already sold and 10 designated for model homes.

There are two select builders who will have models in the community. They are Alexander Homes, the primary builder for the Verde Communities for nearly 20 years, and Community Builders of Scottsdale, a premiere custom homebuilder in the northeast valley. Those builders are about to obtain permits to begin work on the first houses in the community to serve as model homes.

The developer has an additional list of about a half dozen “approved builders” that will be working in the community. Property owners who wish to use other builders will be subject to the approval of the developer.

The clubhouse for the Vista Verde Community is in the design stage. A preliminary design for the facility takes advantage of sloping terrain to offer spectacular views of the Superstition and Mazatzal mountain ranges. Four Peaks in the Mazatzals and Weaver’s Needle in the Superstitions are prominent features on the horizon. Ritchie said plans for the clubhouse construction will be finalized at a later date.

The Ken Kavanaugh designed golf course at Vista Verde is open and players of all abilities are welcome. With infrastructure construction completed in Phase I the golf course will be open on a continuing basis.

Vista Golf is extending its golf card offer with Peak Season play at Summer Rates. The card is good for 50 rounds at $50 each, or $2,500 for the card.

Ritchie said this is a great way for individuals or groups who play a lot together to get a great deal on golf play.

Plans also are being finalized for a Verdes Information and Sales Office at the main entrance to vista Verde at 174th Street and Rio Verde Drive. A temporary structure should be open soon to receive guests. This new office for Vista Verde Sales, Inc. will be staffed seven days a week once it is open.
