Mobile showroom takes products on road to clients

Fountain Hills entrepreneur Bill Walker has designed what he says is the “world’s first and largest mobile showroom” to deliver products to customers.

Although his current mobile showroom --- a 48-foot, self-contained $1 million unit --- displays high-end custom cabinets; indoor and outdoor decorative tile and stone products; mosaics, moldings and borders in a variety of colors, patterns and finishes, and carpet samples, the options of mobile showrooms are unlimited for businesses.

The initial showroom has hardwood floors, adjustable overhead lighting fixtures, custom-built library designed to display or archive products, and an outdoor canopy veranda.

“This is going to change the way people do business,” said Walker, who prefers to be called only by his last name.

“With this first mobile showroom concept, we targeted the building or remodeling industry, but the applications for the mobile showroom concepts are infinite,” added Walker.

“Our goal for our clients is to have a positive, convenient and hassle-free experience,” he said. “If you’re not in the customer-service industry in these tough economic times, you will simply lose the race. It’s all about service.”

His research has revealed that most consumers average 6.4 trips to a design showroom for every purchase decision when they’re building or remodeling.

The convenient mobile showroom saves a customer time and money and allows them to make design decisions in the comfort and convenience of their homes or business.

Walker is in the stages of preparing franchise opportunities for his concept. Options for a mobile showroom can be tailored for

“Any type of retail business could benefit by being mobile and able to take its products or services to special events or even to individual customers,” he said. By reducing the size and options, he can produce a mobile showroom for as little as $300,000 or, on the other end, extend the showroom to 53 feet.

“Businesses are getting down to their bottom prices to attract customers. Now, what separates us from the others? It’s all about service and letting us bring the store to you.”

The luxury and spacious size of the showrooms make them adaptable for a company’s hospitality suite during a convention or other large gathering. It could also be used as a traveling corporate recruiting center, a training center, or even a hands-on, interactive product demonstration center.

“There has never been a mobile showroom of this caliber before,” said the designer.
