Hello, as the President of the Fountain Hills Licensed Contractors Association (F.H.L.C.A.), I would like to introduce you to our association. The goal of our licensed and bonded building contractors and subcontractors is to provide quality workmanship at a fair market value.
These building contractors, both residential and commercial, contribute to a number of organizations in Fountain Hills. Among our projects is an annual scholarship for one graduating Fountain Hills High School student who excels in scholastics and plans to have a career in the building industry.
Many of our members contribute time and materials to organizations such as the Fountain Hills Community Theater, the Veterans Memorial and construction of a Fountain Hills Unified School District sports equipment storage unit.
The association is active in helping the Town retain key personnel in the building department. By keeping these key people in their positions, contractors can be better educated on building code changes affecting everyone in the building industry. We have association members who are active in our town government, city council and planning and zoning to help our community grow in a positive and smart way that can benefit everyone in our town. We all live and work here to make this the premier community it has grown to be and want to keep it this way!
The association also strives to inform potential customers of the importance of hiring a licensed contractor, and liabilities if you don’t. Consumers have to consider such liabilities as lawsuits for personal injury due to lack of insurance, no recourse for poor workmanship and/or material defects with no warranty just to name a few. We also remind potential customers that it’s against the law to contract for more than $750 without a valid contractor’s license from the state of Arizona. If you think your contractor may not be licensed or if you have a dispute with a contractor you have hired, contact the Registrar of Contractors at www.azroc.gov for assistance.
Remember, the peace of mind in hiring a licensed contractor and the product guarantee is worth so much more than the risk of a disappointing finished product with little or no recourse.
Please contact the Association at (480) 836-9780 for a brochure listing qualified contractors, or view our ad in the Fountain Hills and Verde Communities 2009 Telephone Directory under “Contractors.”
Sincerely,
Al Donaldson
President
