Roadrunner Custom Remodeling, Inc.: Family with new kitchen couldn't be happier

If you’re considering remodeling your kitchen or bathroom, you may want to call Patrick Benkowski, CR, owner of Roadrunner Custom Remodeling Inc. of Fountain Hills.

That’s what Rhonda and Bernie Corbin did when they decided to remodel their kitchen, and they couldn’t be happier.

“This has been an unbelievably good experience,” Rhonda said. “Remodeling is costly, and stressful and you’re vulnerable. Patrick has been a friend through all of it. We couldn’t recommend him more.”

Benkowski, who is 2007 Chairman of the Board of the Arizona chapter of the National Association of Remodeling Industry (NARI), has been in the remodeling business for 30 years. He has been in Fountain Hills seven years.

The Corbins are completely remodeling their home on Carmel Drive in Fountain Hills. When they first made their plans, they knew they would begin with the kitchen as the first phase, followed by the rest of the house.

They started their search for a contractor on the internet. They wanted to hire a local contractor and found Roadrunner’s very informative website.

They called Benkowski, who listened to their ideas, offered suggestions and presented them with a detailed plan.

“We took an instant liking to him,” Rhonda said.

“He was honest, and nice right away. We just felt very good about his manner.”

After working out the details, the Corbins said Benkowski started the project as promised and stayed right with it throughout.

“There were things that were unexpected, but before they became a surprise, Patrick let us know what was happening.”

Benkowski said he also appreciated working with the Corbins.

“They really are a perfect fit for my Company,” he said. “People don’t realize that when they are sizing me up (for a job), I am sizing them up as well. I want to be able to work well with a client, and the Corbins were  great.”

“I choose to keep my Company small so I can perform one job at a time.   That way I can give one client all my attention.   Folks really appreciate that in this day and age.”

Benkowski described the kitchen remodel as a “big job,” and the remainder of the project is “major”, but the work is progressing well.

The Corbins have lived in their home since 1993. It was built in 1980, and Rhonda said the kitchen was an “old fashioned, dark 1980s room.”

Their new kitchen has been completely remodeled, with all new appliances, sinks, fixtures, cabinets, countertops and floors.

“It is just beautiful,” Rhonda said. “We just could not be happier with the outcome.”

Rhonda said Benkowski is responsive (“He gets in here in 10 minutes if we call him.”) to questions, concerns and problems. He has provided “excellent” crews to do the work.

“I really don’t think I would feel this way about another company,” Rhonda said. “Patrick has been wonderful, and there is no question that we would hire him again, and recommend him to our friends.”

Roadrunner specializes in kitchen and bath remodeling, but will perform any size project (Such as the Corbins whole house remodeling project) for previous customers.

Benkowski said a typical kitchen remodel in today’s market will start at about $25,000 (On the low end) and “the sky’s the limit.” for the upper end.  He said it is unlikely a kitchen can be remodeled by a reputable licensed and insured professional for anything less than $25,000, and the average kitchen remodel is in the $50,000 range.

“When you are using a licensed professional who has years of experience, you will come out way ahead in the long run,” he said. “You could get it done for less, but you get what you pay for.”

Benkowski, who is a certified remodeler (CR) with the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, and a member of the Central Arizona Better Business Bureau can be reached by calling (480) 816-0788.
