Working with an interior designer can help you create a living space that is uniquely yours.

Erin Hensel, owner/designer of Focal Point Design in Fountain Hills, said her service not only helps her clients make their environment fit them, but it also helps them spend their money more wisely.

“By working with a designer, you are able to have expert help in getting what you need to make your home look its best,” she said.

Erin has been helping homeowners and homebuilders craft innovative and beautiful interiors for nearly nine years. She moved to the Valley eight years ago from Tucson and works with clients in communities throughout Arizona, including Fountain Hills and North Scottsdale. She also works with out-of-state homeowners.

Erin enjoys working with clients, likes seeing their reactions after a job is complete.

“That is really satisfying,” she says.

Erin guides clients to adopt a look of their own.

“Quite often someone will go to a model home and just fall in love with the design and décor,” she says. “I help people use the inspiration they have from seeing the model and making it more their own style.”

Erin believes “any successful designer must be a good listener and good communicator.” These skills prove invaluable in helping couples through conflicting design ideas and taste.

She said her skills help her with clients, as well as working with contractors.

Erin has seen an increase in working with remodeled homes in the past several months.

“People are putting their attention to their current home,” she said. “They are changing their space to be more functional and more appropriate to their lives since buying that home.

“I can identify opportunities to help people make these changes,” she said.

Erin’s extensive experience and knowledge with hard surface products (granite, tile, wood, etc.) and installation enables her to bring to the table design opportunities to update existing spaces and accommodate changing lifestyle needs.

Erin works with out-of-state homeowners, as well as those who live in their homes.

“I do a lot of turnkey projects,” she said. “I enjoy doing that. It’s great to see the owners’ faces when they see the new look for the first time.”

Erin works with contractors, custom homebuilders, as well as homeowners. Most recently she has designed interiors of five Fountain Hills models for American Legacy Homes; The Enclave and Villas at Firerock. She works on small projects, as well as large.

“I have been able to build a clientele by building relationships with my clients,” she said. “You build your business by helping the client with whatever he or she needs. If it is a small project that is done well, it can lead to bigger projects with the same client, or as a referral for someone new.”
