Feelz Like Home is one of those businesses that can make life easier in almost an instant.

Feelz Like Home is an interior redesign company owned by Nancy Cummings. The business was created to help people use what they already have to produce an all-new look and feel to a room, or even a whole house. With Cummings’ expertise using existing furnishings and accessories, a room is transformed.

Cummings has expanded her business and offers home staging for owner-occupied homes, move-in services and color consultation. She also provides home staging services for houses on the market that are not occupied.

In providing the service for owner-occupied homes, Cummings says staging “gives the owner a better chance of selling the house.”

She says that she interviews her clients and takes into account what the homeowners need to live comfortably in their home while it is on the market.

“You want a potential buyer to come into the house and be able to picture himself in the home,” she says. “At the same time, you have people who need their things to be comfortable and efficient in their living space. I can help the seller get used to living differently while their home is on the market.”

Cummings uses what the homeowner already has to stage the home, but she may also bring in rented art and accessories to enhance the feel. She also makes recommendations to the homeowner to pack up personal items.

“If you have too many personal effects out, a buyer could think you are not serious about leaving your home,” she says. “It becomes a barrier.”

After a home is sold and it’s time to move, Cummings can provide move-in services.

“I can help you arrange furniture after it is unloaded,” she said. “I can also help unpack and help completely with the move in.”

She says she is able to make a house appear that it has been lived in for months in just a matter of two or three days.

“I just help people feel settled more quickly than if they do it all themselves,” she says. “Moving and unpacking takes a long time, but I am able to get things set up and livable.”

In a new home, or one that has been lived in, Cummings offers owners ideas on how to make their homes look different with the use of color.

“I go in and look at furnishings and inspiration points,” she said. “I can give people a good idea on what colors will enhance the look of their home.”

Cummings recommends using large color samples to get the idea of how a color will fit in a home. She buys foam core and paints it with suggested colors so a homeowner can really “see” the color.

“The paint sample you pick up at the paint store is really too small to give you much of an idea,” she says. “By using a large size with the color, you can visualize it much better.”

Cummings is a certified home stager. She has taken classes in the field and trained by the Interior Redesign Industry Specialists (IRIS). She also attends classes offered by paint companies and IRIS conferences.

She has been hired to help clients with their holiday decorating and looks forward to providing that service.

“I can find a whole new way to use your decorations,” she says. “I am really looking forward to the holidays to help with home décor.”
