Whether it is a special vase or a whimsical lamp to place in a baby’s room, Cheryl’s Distinctive Accessories is likely to have just the thing.
The Fountain Hills boutique is newly opened in its current incarnation. The shop was combined by two owners: the former Lisa Marsh owned Distinctive Accessories. Cheryl Kautz owned the shop next door called Cheryl’s Interiors. Then Lisa married Cheryl’s son, Stace, and the two women joined forces to create Cheryl’s Distinctive Accessories.

Cheryl Kautz, left, and her daughter-in-law, Lisa Kautz, have combined their two businesses to create Cheryl’s Distinctive Accessories.
Lisa’s original store carried handbags, jewelry, candles, some home décor items and later, baby items.
Cheryl’s store offered floral arrangements and home accessories.
Now the combined business has all the items under one roof, and new merchandise arrives weekly, creating a reason to stop by frequently to see the new offerings.
“A customer can come in with a photo or a particular piece, and we are able to coordinate accessories, or maybe just offer a final piece to complete a look,” said Lisa. “We can take measurements and put groupings together. We really have just about everything to decorate a home.”
There are more than 600 floral arrangements in the store, and custom designs are available.
“We have an in-house designer, Fay McNeely, who can create exactly what a customer needs if he or she doesn’t see it in the store,” Lisa remarked.
Cheryl added that there is accent furniture, as well as mirrors, containers, candles and pottery.
“You can look all around the store and find a unique item that may be just what you have always been looking for,” Cheryl stated. “We have worked hard to create a place where people can get a certain look with the accessories we have here.”
Both women remarked about the great response they have had from customers coming in to the store since the change.
“People love what we have done,” commented Lisa. “We really have a lot to offer, and people are really happy to see what we are bringing in.”
Lisa said the store has its “staple” pieces on both sides,. There are items that people always want, but she and her mother-in-law are featuring new lines and new looks.
They still have baby furniture and gifts for expectant mothers and new babies, but there are new articles and promotions offered in the store.
Promotions include baby photo contests and a baby gift registry. The mother and daughter-in-law team also will have a holiday open house and are planning other activities.
The store features accessories for every room in the house, including the bath and kitchen. And if the item you buy is going to be a gift, the store offers a full selection of greeting cards for every occasion.
Cheryl’s Distinctive Accessories is located at 16605 E. Palisades Blvd., Suite 136. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Call (480) 816-8445 for additional information.
