James: Let’s get rid of those invasive weeds

Posted

It is not often that I find myself agreeing with Jesse James, but in his letter to the editor of April 8 (Page 8, April 17 printed edition), I absolutely agree with him with respect to stinknet weed (even if you call it stinkweed or globe chamomile). The weed needs to be exterminated carefully and quickly.

Veteran reporter Bob Burns wrote a nice article about this obnoxious invasive weed which appeared in the April 25 edition. Everyone should read or reread it and get rid of stinknet and the other invasive weeds, such buffelgrass, desert broom and the like. They crowd out other beautiful native plants and add to the fire load, thereby increasing the risk of bush fires and home damage.

Use your favorite online search engine and look it up and then please take measures to reduce or eradicate buffelgrass, desert broom and stinkweed for the benefit of all of us.
