Boys & Girls Club closes out big summer camp program

Posted

The local Boys & Girls Club of Greater Scottsdale McKee Branch stayed plenty busy this summer, giving local youngsters plenty of physical and educational opportunities through the Summer Camp program.

This year’s Summer Camp program was open to youngsters in grades K-6, running Monday through Friday from May 30 to Aug. 4.

On top of themed weeks and regular field trips, the club offered everything from judo and robotics classes to free play, arts, crafts and various academic programs.

This year’s themed weeks encouraged participants to travel through both space and time, become a ninja, wear clothes with their favorite cartoon characters, stroll through Hollywood and even become a mad scientist.

Each week also included a big field trip, including treks to the movie theater, the McDowell Mountain Pool, Stratum Laser Tag, the Children’s Museum of Phoenix, the AZ Museum of Natural History and more.

Though the summer is drawing to a close, many of the Summer Camp programs will continue into the school year to join the McKee Branch’s usual roster of offerings.
