Artist creates portraits of loved ones

Posted

Whether it’s the likeness of a child, grandbaby or pet, artist Lori Brown will reproduce a portrait of your loved one.

She can create portraits in colored pencils, watercolor or oil starting at $250. She will work from a photo or will photograph the subject for an additional fee. She is accepting commissions; she also provides private and group art lessons.

“Although the days of climbing trees, running through fields, splashing around in creeks and making snow angels with friends and family are warm memories, I’m still a child at heart and the beauty of God’s creative touch still amazes me very day,” said Brown.

She has drawn and painted since a child growing up in Michigan.

She earned a bachelor of fine arts degree from the University of Michigan and attended Parsons School of Design in New York City. She has been employed as a graphic arts director.

She is a member of the Fountain Hills Art League and Shemer Art Center & Museum in Phoenix.

In 2010, she adopted a black Labrador from a rescue shelter and, after creating portraits of Bella, friends encouraged her to start an animal portrait business.

Last year, her daughter and son-in-law presented her with her first grandson; her sister was equally blessed with the arrival of her first grandchild.

“The boys have inspired me to create portraits of people again,” said Brown, a town resident for the past 11 years.

She creates portraits using colored pencils, watercolors or oils.

Her online portfolio at LoriBrownArt.com displays completed portraits of children, dogs and horses. Her telephone number is (480) 677-0092.
